When the Imperium's heavy battle cruisers and carriers began threatening densely populated systems and supply lines, Valex quickly designed and deployed the IS-KNX.101 as a rapidly deployable anti-capital ship solution. More like a mobile weapon's platform, the Ion Storm frigate is built around 2 extremely powerful INX class Fused Ion Cannon arrays. While generally more lightly armored and and shielded then its class counterparts, the 'Ion Storm' frigate has proven, time after time, to be a terrifyingly effective weapon when deployed and supported by knowledgeable fleet commanders. With each cannon requiring its own class 3 fusion reactor, it's a wonder that the Valex engineers made this platform work at all!
