The Scorpio Assault Destroyer was the direct response to the Imperium's introduction of the 'Griffin' assault destroyers and, in proper Valex form, combines an impressive amount of firepower with an incredible survivability. Originally prototyped as a long-range interdictor, the Scorpio was hastily updated when a fleet of unknown, at the time, Imperium heavy destroyers overran the Centuari-4 system that were reportedly impervious to most small craft weapons at the time. The Valex Conglomerate won the contract bid from several Terran governments and built numerous Scorpio destroyers in record time.
