Officially speaking, project 'Celestial Hammer' was decommissioned and the resulting technology destroyed. But few actually believe that. The ship was the byproduct of a planetoid mining research project that, with no surprise, was picked up as a military contract when the resulting technology proved devastating to more than just planetoids and space rocks. The ship resulting technology from this contract was the catalyst for the Vega Conflict. The weaponized version of its planet cracking quantum bursting array was tested on the small dead moon of Ulkine prime an official neutral zone but the resulting burst was recorded, nearly instantly and almost 12 light years away, by an Imperium recon fleet. The test sent political shockwaves through the imperium which lead to a series of small military skirmishes on boarder worlds that quickly escalaged to the Kathika invasion and the resulting Vega Conflict. The 'Celestial Hammer' is officially classified as a terror weapon and technically outlawed by most governments throughout the galaxy, but rumor has it that, in the years since the conflict, the ship has somehow made its way into someone else's hands.
